PROFILE
I am a self taught artist.
I have painted for 20 years.
I have studied Van Gogh and Michealangelo.
I copied Van Gogh, Monet and Michealangelos work for about five years before having the faith in myself to go it alone.
I paint very fast I also dance half naked as I don't like material from my clothes to get in my way.
I paint mainly in oils, I have tried other mediums, but I just can't get the same intense feeling and movement from any other medium.
I like to think that I have created my own style thanks to two of the greatest masters of all time.
My FIRST painting was 'The Straw Hat'.
A copy of Van Gogh which I sold within an hour in my local wine bar for ?180 that kept me inspired to keep painting.
THESE ARE THE KEY POINTS TO BARE IN MIND BEFORE BECOMING A Master in Art.
There's nothing wrong in being self confident, its not about 'Oh look how great I am,' its about knowing you are great as a person and loving every inch of your soul with pure love and admiration for ones self.
Once you can find the part of you that shines and warms peoples souls with love and affection, not bitterness then it will shine through naturally and flow through your brushes or what ever TOOLS one uses.
If you become known for your life and gifts you leave behind, then what's better to leave your children that gift of love, self worth and just being known for who you were, the fortunes are a bonus.
Its not about fame, credibility, vanity, IF ONE WAS CRAZY, frustrated angry, a drunk, rich or poor, its about inner peace and warmth love respect, trust loyalty and the most important one of all, everyone knowing to buy you a pint before your arse hits the seat.
Respecting others even when they piss you off, and smile whilst keeping those inner thoughts firmly in your mind, as love not hate.
Once you are proficient at that then can you become adept at the Art of being a Master. Or in my case, AN ARTISTIC MASTERBATOR.
Biography: EXHIBITS
Open exhibition Howarth Art Gallery 1995, I was asked for the work to be kept in for their following show. For a further three months!
I have had "The London Eye" accepted in the open commencing 20th October 2007 at Howarth Art Gallery, Accrington, Lancashire.
ABOUT ME....
I left school at the age of eight years old to tour Australia and New Zealand with my family on a working holiday that turned in to a survival special, my father was like an explorer and we had to explore with him.
As my family worked hard in the fields picking potatoes, I would sit sketching the ice topped mountains of Hokitika in the South Island of New Zealand.
We toured around for four years and I was able to take in the beautiful colours and views of the country.
I started painting when I had a young family painting my children's portraits and landscapes of the beautiful village of Olney in Buckinghamshire which we lived in.
I visited The Royal Academy in London and instantly knew what I wanted from my life.
I wanted the artist in me to create paintings for the public to see and to be inspired the way that I felt inspired the 1st time I ever saw a Van Gogh.
I have only ever entered two Galleries, the 1st being The Royal Academy, which I was rejected, the 2nd being The Howarth Art Gallery in Accrington. That was an open exhibition and two out my three entries were picked.
The following year I entered the same art Gallery with 'Diana' The Interview only to be told by the curator that I couldn't enter that as Diana had just died and that she was an Icon, I replied' Jesus is an Icon and people will always paint him,' I did say other things but I will leave them out.
I was hurt and disgusted at her comment I had not even got through the entrance door.
I stopped painting for 7 years because of that and also because of certain artist paintings of Myra Hindley using clay hand prints.
I just felt sick with the art world and how it was affecting me as a person.
Then December 06 came when I lost my partner and soulmate in a sudden accident.
Rather than go and turn crazy, I picked up my brushes and started to paint again, scared at 1st as I didn't know what to paint.
But within an hour of holding my brushes the paint flowed again.
I began with the nudes, I paint and dance at the same time almost naked and felt naked inside totally stripped of all my emotions, so I began with them.
My strength came back slowly over the months.
The London Eye has just been completed and is one of my best ever works, it took me 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Its ok copying the masters like Van Gogh, but you end up painting like a Harrier Jet flies, pure speed and not being able to put the breaks on.
It gets exhausting, but once I start a painting I try to complete it that day.
I have just started an art movement 'The Sexy Artist Movement' its for all artists to share advice, and we help promote the motto 'its nice to be nice.
I find todays artists are very negative towards each other, after going on the Saatchi site with my work, I received a lot of hate messages and it almost caused me to burn all my work from 20 years.
Some paintings take less than an hour!
'Eve' was painted in 48 minutes, oil on board.
I have painted a number of paintings over the years and always planned on doing a one man show.
Recently my son Graham built my website online Gallery so I could share & show my work.
I have learnt that the art world likes to be shocked or you simply have to wait your turn till they pick you out.
I have no plans on waiting about.
My youngest boy has just started school and on monday I actually painted a painting in the day time, the 1st one in 15 years, its great being a mother, but its great being an artist.19.09.07
